GIGLIO BEACHES

The Beaches of the Lily Island

In the whole island, the beaches reachable by carriageways are three: one to the west and two to the east (one north and one south to the harbor).

The first, that of the three is also the most beautiful, is Campese: a sandy beach enclosed between the spectacular Punta Faraglione to the west and the Medicean Tower to the east.

On the other side, north of Giglio Porto is the Cala dell'Arenella, narrow, sandy, of a mild pink color, protected by the Castle guarding up the top of the mountains. With a short walk northwards from here you reach the Caletta: a wonderful creek with smooth and rosy rocks that gently slope down to the sea.

To the south of Giglio Porto is Cala della Cannelle, a beautiful light sandy beach surrounded by granite hills and old quarries, a residence and a seaside restaurant.

In each of these three beaches you can choose whether to tow your towel in the middle or give yourself a sun umbrella and a cot.

Among the other beaches and hidden bays that can only be reached by boat or on foot, along some of the 33 trails marked in red that intertwine in the 24 kmq of the island, we point to Cala delle Caldane: south of the Cannelle, which is also composed in maximum part of quartz, you can reach it with a 15 minute walk along a footpath overlooking the sea.
